About the Speaker
An enthusiast in the field of human rights, Sanya Darakhshan Kishwar is currently an Assistant Lecturer at the Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, India. She holds a Masters in General Laws (LL.M.) from the Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. and an Integrated Bachelors in Law and Science (B.Sc. LL.B. (H)) from Central University of South Bihar, India. She has passed her LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Leeds, U.K., with Distinction. She was the recipient of the Best Law Student of India Award in 2018. She received the SILF-MILAT full tuition scholarship towards the completion of her LL.M. from Penn State Law and the Liberty Scholarship towards her tuition fee at the University of Leeds. At Penn State, Sanya was a part of the team that won the 26th Williem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna. She also worked as a Research Assistant under the tutelage of Prof. Catherine Rogers assisting her on the project Arbitrator Intelligence. She has keen interest in the field of gender justice and has been a member of the Gender Sensitization and Equal Opportunity Cell in her undergraduate years. Her dissertation at Leeds highlighted the inadequacy of the existing international framework in addressing the increase in rates of child marriages in areas affected by armed conflicts. She received Distinction in her dissertation.
