SUPREME COURT INSPECTS ON DELAY IN DELHI SMOG TOWER

The smog tower project is setup to lower or bring the level of pollution under control in India.

The time period given for same was 3 months but no attention has been paid to same. The Supreme court Bench com-rising of Justices Krishna Murari, Arun Mishra and BR Gavai today questioned the centre regarding the delay of this project.

Tushar Mehta Solicitor General answered that time limit of three months is far from practical as designing the tower itself will take 2 months and it will be provided by IIT Bombay.

Further technical part is supposed to take 3 months and final setting up of whole tower will take about 10 months.

He also said that MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) is yet to be signed by all the parties digitally.

Parties include Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and other technical
consultants.

Lastly, he explained that technology needs to be transferred from Minnesota, U.S.

But all these reasons were not sufficing to calm court’s anger. In action court issued order to present affidavit by Monday and asked for no further delay in project.
