SC To States: Send Migrants Home Within 15 days, Give them jobs, Drop Cases
On Tuesday, Supreme Court asked the states to identify all migrant labourers and to make arrangements for them to be sent to their respective home states within 15 days.
In the suo motu matter concerning the migrant crisis effected by COVID-19 pandemic, today the Supreme Court directed central and state governments to identify migrant workers and send them back to their native places within 15 days.
The court also said that all cases which are registered against migrants who have violated lockdown orders should be considered for withdrawal.
Top courts also asked the centre and states to prepare a list of migrant workers so that they can identify them. And also after mapping their skills they should be provided by jobs, directed by the Court.
