SC ALLOWS PLEA OF MCI SEEKING EXTENSION OF TIME FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENTS
The Supreme Court on Monday (8/06/2020) has allowed Plea filed by Medical Council of India seeking extension of time for admission of students of Medical Colleges.
The case was heard by the bench comprising of Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman, Navin Sinha and B.R. Gavai, wherein the Miscellaneous Application was filed by Medical Council of India seeking for extension of time for admission to PG courses, time for grant of permission for super recognition for MBBS courses in the Colleges of India.
The Medical Council of India on the last date of hearing issued a notification with the previous sanction of the Central Government according to which amendment takes place in “Establishment of Medical College Regulations, 1999”.
Supreme Court allows the Plea and said that “ Needless to say the AIIMS and PGI (for the examination held in July) shall also follow the Schedule on letter and spirit”. So the previous date was decided of 31st May but due to COVID-19 Pandemic, Medical Council of India regulations could not be followed.
