Patna HC directed the health workers to dissolve the strike and return to duty
On August 24, the Patna High Court directed para medical staff to dissolve the strike and return to duty and also directed to the junior doctors of Bihar not to proceed on strike.
Advocate General of the state government Lalit Kishore told to the court , strike of junior doctors was proposed from 27 August while the contractual health workers union was on strike from 23 August. He produced a copy of the notice of doctors to go on the proposed strike before court.
A bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sanjay Kumar heard the matter. The court give fair warning to initiate contempt proceedings against them if they did not adhere to the directives issued by the court.
Reason for Strike
The members of Bihar State Health Contract Workers Association were on indefinite strike since July due to 17-point charter of demands . The strike was adjourned after the State Health Committee of Bihar Health Department and the Government of Bihar assured to fulfill all the demands within a month. After a month passed the health workers announced to go on indefinite strike due to non-fulfillment of their demands by the State Health Committee of the Government of Bihar and Bihar Health Department.
The court fixed August 26 as the next date of hearing on the case.
