Mumbai Court orders FIR against Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for promoting communal disharmony
On Friday (16th October, 2020), the metropolitan magistrate court of Bandra has ordered an FIR against the actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel under Section 156 (3) of CrPC. This order was granted by Magistrate Jaydeo Ghule, who after prima facie perusal of complaint found that the accused has committed a cognizable offence.
The Complainant is a casting director in the Hindi Film Industry, named Munnawarali Sayyed. He sought the FIR to be registered under sections 153 A (promoting enmity), 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 124 A (sedition) r/w 34 of IPC.
Mr. Sayyed says, that “the actress has continuously been defaming the Bollywood industry and is alleging the people working in Bollywood films to be a hub of nepotism, favoritism, drug addicts, communally biased people, etc. through her tweets which is creating hatred on the basis of communal tension towards the Bollywood industry”.
He also referred to certain tweets of the accused actress like calling the BMC as “Babur Sena”, saying that she was the first person to make a movie on Rani Lakshmi Bai in an “Islam Dominated Country”, etc.
He said, “she is very well aware of the fact that she’s a well known actress and she has a huge fanbase. It is very obvious that many will see her tweets. Even after that, she is maliciously bringing religion into almost all her tweets and creating division of Hindu artists and Muslim artists”.
The Complainant also didn’t forget to mention the actress’s controversial comment where she compared Mumbai to POK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir).
He further said that the actress’s sister, Rangoli Chandel has also made objectionable comments on social media spreading hate and communal tension between religious groups.
The actress has never hidden the fact about her distaste for the Bollywood industry. From her latest tweet of 15th October, 2020 where she uses the hashtag “IndiaRejectBollywood” and another tweet where she calls Bollywood a “Bully”wood, it is quite clear that she very strongly stands against the Bollywood industry.
She was also seen being in support for the Boycott of the latest Tanishq Jewelry Advertisement which attracted quite a controversy and ultimately was deleted.
In a tweet dated 12/10/2020, she very openly said that even if a case is filed against her, she will continue to expose the Bollywood industry.
Miss. Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Ranaut in her very latest post at 05:06 p.m. on 17th October, 2020 write “No worries” reacting to this order of FIR against them. She, like her sister is also very outspoken and has been part of several controversies till date.
Magistrate Ghule has directed the police to initiate necessary action and investigate this matter against the actress and her sister.
Last week, a Magistrate Court of Karnataka also directed an FIR against her for her tweet on Farmers Protests where her tweet implied that she was comparing the people protesting against the farmers with terrorists.
No further information about the investigation regarding this case has been reported.
