Merger of BSP MLAs with Congress: Rajasthan HC
The Rajasthan High Court has heard its much awaited decision today. In the case of BSP MLAs merging with the Congress, the High Court has given its verdict.
The High court disposed of the petition and said that the Assembly speaker should hear in this matter. The court of Justice Mahendra Goyal, while disposing of the petition, said that the Speaker should hear the matter.
The BSP and BJP MLA Madan Dilawar had approached the High Court regarding this matter. Recently, the hearing in this case was completed. But after that work was postponed due to cases of corona infection in the High Court. Therefore, the decision could not be pronounced.
The court started writing the verdict on August 14 after hearing all the parties in this case, but due to lack of time, the entire verdict could not be written. After writing the verdict continuously for 1 hour and 22 minutes, the court deferred hearing till August 17. But in the meantime, after the arrival of Corona’s case in the High Court, orders were postponed from August 17 to August 19. After that the moratorium was extended again for the 20th and 21st dates. On 22, it was a court holiday due to Saturday and 23 on Sunday. Therefore, there was a delay in coming a decision on this matter.
The whole matter was –
All the six MLAs who won the election on the BSP ticket for the 15th Assembly, had given an application on September 16 last year to the Speaker Dr.CP Joshi to join the Congress. The assembly speaker accepted that application and approved the merger of BSP MLAs with Congress on 18 September 2019. Describing this merger as illegal, BSP and BJP MLA Madan Dilawar challenged it on the single bench of the High Court. Hearing on that, the single bench had issued notices on July 30 to all the 6 BSP MLAs, including the assembly speaker.
