Karnataka Court directs registration of FIR against Kangana Ranaut for tweet on farmers protesting Farmers Bills
Today, the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Karnataka directed the Judicial Police Station to register an FIR against film actress Kangana Ranaut for her tweet on farmers opposing the jurisdiction bill. The order passed by Judge Vinod Balnaik.
A complaint was filed by complainant Ramesh Naik L under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure that Ranaut had a tweet from his Twitter account @KanganaTeam on 21 September 2020.
The complainant sought to register an FIR against the actress for offenses under Section 153A, 504, 108 of the Indian Penal Code.
The plea alleges that the content posted by the accused in his Twitter account is clearly aimed at insulting those who are opposing the farmers bill, making inflammatory statements for the riots and non-violence in the young minds Promote culture. The tweet was
“People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformations about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation”
It was also alleged that this tweet could lead to a clash between different groups. It was stated that neither the police officer nor the government had initiated any action to investigate these activities and failed to register any case against the above named accused.
