District and Trial courts in Karnataka to reopen in phased manner from September 28

The Karnataka High Court on Saturday issued a revised standard operating procedure for the reopening of district / trial courts to prevent the spread of COVID19.

The exercise to reopen district and trial courts has started in the state, under which courts will be opened in a phased manner from September 28.

As per the revised SOP, the 55-taluka courts mentioned in the SOP will be reopened from 28 September.

The High Court Registrar General Rajendra Badamikar said that the courts could record the evidence of a maximum of five witnesses in the morning session on each working day.

 The entrance of litigants into the court complex will keep on prohibited. Nevertheless, witnesses and accused will be acceptable entry upon creation of negative report of Rapid Antigen Test of the same date.

The courts located in all thirteen districts i.e. Davanagere, Haveri, Chitradurga, Chikkaballapura, Raichur, Bidar, Ramnagar, Udupi, Gadag, Kodagu-Madikeri, Koppal, Chamarajanagar and Yadgir will reopen from October 5, 2020. The courts of the remaining districts will be reopened from October 12, 2020.
