DIRECTIONS ISSUED BY MADRAS HC TO FORM A PANEL FOR INDIA QUOTA TO CENTRAL GOVERNMENT: OBC MEDICAL SEATS
This judgement has been delivered by two-member first bench comprising Cheif Justice AP Sahi and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy on the plea submitted by all the political parties including AIADMK and opposing party DMK.
The court has issued the order stating that committee must be form in next three months and that it must be constituted by central government but along with supervision of Medical Council of India, Tamil Naidu Health Department and Ministry of Health and Family welfare.
The purpose of this committee is to provide reservation for Other Backward Classes in All India Quota Medical seats and that too particularly in non-centralised institutions from the upcoming academic year.
As far as now there is no law that central government has imposed for the same it has just a made proposal to give reservation for OBC.
However, this plea to provide reservation in All India quota seats does not require any additional policy or law to be passed as it is already legally supported.
As stated by one of the advocated of the pleading party named P Wilson the only reason behind demanding this reservation is that somewhere OBC category is still facing discrimination on one ground or other and are denied lawful reservations by the state.
