CBSE class XII compartment exam results by Oct 10, Supreme Court disposes of petition

Today, CBSE expressed the Supreme court that the result of compartment examination will be declared by October 10. At the same time, UGC said that according to its academic calendar, college admission can be done till 31 October.

 The petition looking for extension of college admission deadlines, CBSE submitted that it would announce compartment exam results by October 10.

UGC submitted that, the last date to complete the university admission process is 31 October and the last date for admission to fill the remaining vacant seats will be 30 November 2020. Apart from this, provision has also been made in the guidelines, wherever necessary.

The affidavit has been filed following the Supreme Court’s directive in which the Supreme Court has asked the CBSE and UGC to coordinate on the date of declaration of result and the cut-off date for admission to universities so that compartment examination is to be given by 29 September so students can avail admission to universities

In the last hearing, a bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar had expressed concern about the future of about 2 lakh students who were giving compartments. CBSE and UGC were asked to resolve the issue.

The court expressed satisfaction over the statement of both. The court agreed that this would give these students enough time for college admission. Senior advocate Vivek Tankha, appearing for petitioner Ankita Sensory, also thanked the court, CBSE and UGC. After this, the court closed the case.
