Attorney General KK Venugopal in isolation after colleague tests positive for COVID-19
The total number of coronovirus cases in India has reached 4.3 million. This number has effectively pushed India ahead of Brazil.
On Monday, the Supreme Court was informed by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju that India’s Attorney General KK Venugopal is in Quarantine after a colleague was found to be COVID-19 positive.
A bench of Justice L Nageswara Rao and Justice Hemant Gupta was hearing a case related to the appointment of various tribunals when the ASG sought to defer the hearing on the grounds that the Attorney General was in quarantine.
Accordingly, the bench listed the case on 15 September.
Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta said that the AGs themselves are “fit and fine” and quarantine is a precautionary measure. Solicitor General stated that. One of AG’s partners is COVID positive. As a precaution, Attorney General is in quarantine by itself. Otherwise he himself is fit and fine. It is further stated that the entire office has moved to Quarantine.
