Advocate Prashant Bhushan filed a review petition in the SC against its decision to fine him a nominal Re. 1 as punishment for committing criminal contempt
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s decision in the contempt case.
Prashant Bhushan was recently found guilty of contempt. For this, he was fined one rupee as a punishment. However, Prashant Bhushan has paid the fine. But, he has exclusively said that he does not accept this decision of the court.
On August 31, the Supreme Court convicted Prashant Bhushan in the contempt case. Along with this, he was also fined one rupee for contempt of court. Significantly, Prashant Bhushan told in an interview in 2009 that half of the 16 Chief Justices of India were corrupt. At the same time such statements were included in this entire contempt case.
The council told Bhushan that along with this letter you will have to explain within 15 days why proceedings should not be initiated under your tweet and contempt petition by the Supreme Court.
