The Supreme Court has extended the date for announcing final verdict in Babri Masjid Demolition case. Previously the date set for CBI courts to conclude the case was 31st August. The special CBI courts have been a playing a major role in this case since June 5th they have been recording statements of all the witnesses under section 313 of Criminal Procedure Code.
In this case on 6th December 1992 the mosque in Ayodhya was demolished by ‘Kar Sevaks’ thereby claiming that an ancient Ram temple stood at that site. Keeping a note of very important fact one must not forget that former deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and BJP leaders M Joshi were also listed among those people leading the Ram temple movement at that time.
Initially special CBI Court conducted the examination of 354 prosecution witnesses. At present there are in total 32 accused including former Uttar Pradesh chief minster Kalyan Singh, Vinay Katiar, Sadhvi Ritambhara, M Joshi and L K Advani.
