About the college
The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU, Shimla), was established by the State Government in the year 2016, by an Act of the Legislature (Act 16 of 2016). The University started functioning from 5th of October, 2016. The first batch of B.A.LL.B. students was inducted on the basis merit/score secured by them in different national level entrance tests. The University started its own Entrance Exam: HPNLET, in 2017-2018 and continued for academic session of 2018-2019 for admissions in various courses i. e. B.A.LL.B.; B.B.A. LL.B.; and LL.M. (One-Year Programme with two specializations viz- Constitutional Law and Criminal Law)and Ph.D. Programmes.
The University has decided to join CLAT Consortium from the Academic Session 2019-2020. Presently, the University functions from the campus of Himachal Pradesh Judicial Academy.
Located in the geographical terrains of Himalayas, HPNLU Shimla, is the best place for study and learning in law, developing in students, understanding about law and legal system, topographies of law making, legal practice, and administration. Perhaps, climatic conditions and environmental privileges of its placement, makes the University one of the most sought-after law education institutions within three years of its coming into existence. The institution has attracted excellent set of teachers from all over India. The University is committed to provide inter disciplinary and practical/application based legal education keeping in view the requirements of overall developments of its students.
Under the academic and administrative leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, the team HPNLU is committed to achieve new heights in law education. The construction of buildings of the University is in advanced stage and before the start of next academic session, the University plans to shift to its new Campus.

Mission
To prepare leaders for law and law related professionals through integrated curriculum that emphasizes academic excellence and acceptability.
The mission is to develop well prepared law graduates capable of integrating knowledge of legal theory, practical skill and professional values; fostering an intellectual culture that bridges theory with practice and contributing to social, economic and cultural development through intellectual products which enhance the quality of life of people of Himachal Pradesh and beyond.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure is in process but we have our academic block, library and classrooms built.
Academics
HPNLU offers B.A/B.BA. LL.B, LLM and PH.D courses. Admission is done through CLAT.

Admission Procedure and Fee structure
Admission is done on the basis of marks in CLAT. Fees is around 2.24 Lakhs including mess fees.
Hostel Facility
Our hostels are in process. Currently, residing in a college leased buildings with good facilities.
Placement
The college is established in the year 2016. So, we cannot comment on placements as of now.
College Events
College conducts various national and international seminars with intra Moot Court, Parliamentary Debates, Essay Writing Competitions. Legal Aid cell has been actively working throughout. Currently we were having our 1st National Moot Court Competition but was cancelled due to the lockdown.
