Law School Review : Know about Government Law College, Mumbai
I am studying in Government Law College, Mumbai. Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai is one the reputed college in Maharashtra. It is established in 1855, has the distinction of being the oldest Law College in Asia, dating even prior to the University of Mumbai. GLC is located at Churchgate one of the prime location of Mumbai. The motto of college is “Ne Vile Fano” which means ‘let no evil enter’. GLC continues to hold a preeminent position in the field of legal education in India and is recognised as such too by the Bar Council of India. The College remains strong and resolute in these trying times of a competitive and commercialised nature of legal education by holding on to its institutional ethos and due to the strength of its rich heritage and professional character, thus fulfilling its objectives of training not just the finest of the legal practitioners but also by nurturing professionals and thinkers in every sphere of society.
GLC provides many committees so that students get good platform to perform their skills and also work for College and students. There are Student’s Council, Alumni Association, Cultural Committee, Legal Aid Committee, Debating Society, Dramatic Committee, Law Review, Magazine Committee, Model United Nations Society, Moot Court Association, Placement Committee, Sports Committee, Social Service League, Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL) all these committees work their best for which they are formed.

GLC is not only popular for Law college but for their extra curricular activities like Model United Nations (MUN). The GLC MUN Society aims to educate students about the advantages of MUNning (an internationally recognized form of debate, discussion and deliberation.)The Society assists the students and facilitates greater participation of the students of GLC at various City, National and International MUN Conferences, and officially selects and sends contingents from college to these Conferences. Every year Students Council conduct M.C. The Alumni Association every year organise Delhi Study (DST) in which twenty student get opportunity to visit Supreme Court, to take interview of Attorney General of India, Politicians such great personalities. The one of important aspect of DST is that among twenty students two students are selected who is backward class and due to this students from rural areas get opportunity to visit SC.
Social Service League’s (SSL) strategies are oriented towards making lives better. ‘Shikhar’, ‘Rural Literacy Campaign’ such activities are conduct by SSL. It has undertaken several projects such as tree plantation drives, clean up drives, projects with NGOs working for the destitute, orphaned children, HIV patients, etc. It organizes an annual exhibition Shikhar which provides a platform to various NGOs to showcase their handmade products and offer them for sale.

So GLC is place where we get not only degree of Law but every student who study in GLC become versatile in all activities. It is institution which not only teach law like other colleges but also give best lesson for life by providing various platforms for students. I am proud to be studying in Government Law College, Mumbai.
