Live in relationship between a boy and girl either for 2 days would be considered under the same head, Punjab and Haryana HC:-

The court while dispensing its order based on a petition opined that living in a conjunction of relationship for a prolonged period is considered as a live-in relationship, nevertheless such kind of a relationship for 2 days would even be regarded as a live in relationship.

The petitioner while instating the petition claimed that he was residing with his girlfriend in live-in relationship and the family members of his girlfriend took hold of her forcefully.

Concerning the matter he claimed the custody of his girlfriend to be extracted from his family members and bestowed upon him.

In regards to the conditions he appealed preceding the single bench of HC for the custody of his girlfriend to be extracted from his family members and bestowed upon him.

Investigating the matter court expressed that no proper evidence is available corroborating the facts that boy and girl were in a live in relationship but was a mere conception presented before the court by the boy to defame the girl.The court imposed a fine of Rs. One lakh over the boy and ordered to furnish the amount to the girl.

An appeal was filed against the decision of the Single Bench in a Division Bench.

In the hearing it was stated that the boy and the girl and been residing together for a short period of time that’s why it should not be considered as a live-in relationship, but the HC stated that if the couple lives together like this for even a period of 2 days it would be considered under the head of a live-in relationship.

Meanwhile the court rejected the claim for bestowing the custody of the girl to the boy as he was merely 20 years old and remitted the fine imposed upon him considering the circumstances of the case.
